Category Archives: Concert Reviews
Been awhile since I’ve written about a concert, even though I’ve been to a few over the past month…so it’s time to play catch up. Back on March 15th, I got to see Ra Ra Riot with the Pomegranates at the Firebird in St. Louis. It was a concert of frustration, fun…and a hot cellist.
This week, I had the opportunity to see Tokyo Police Club in concert at the Firebird in St. Louis. It was close to selling out (about 400+ people), but I was able to walk up and grab a ticket about 2 minutes before TPC took the stage. I was running late and didn’t get to see the opening band: Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. Sorry guys, maybe next time.
Usually, I don’t like going to concerts alone…I like to share new music with friends…but they all bailed on me, so I rolled solo.
Fang Island said that they got their name from an article in The Onion. Guitarist Jason Bartell recalled, “I think it was just a funny blip about Donald Rumsfeld having a secret hideaway, and it was on Fang Island. We like how it was sort of this, like, fictional space that we imagined our music was played on.”
I loves The Onion, and I now love Fang Island even more.
